The Sahara – the enigma, the vastness, the stuff of dreams!

The largest desert in the world meets the south of Morocco. The name Sahara is Arabic for desert.

Visit the desert –

the high dunes of Erg Chegaga, or the beautiful Erg Chebbi

see palm groves, kasbahs, dunes and oasis

ride dromedaries (the one-humped camel) into the dunes to witness the sunrise or the sunset

stay overnight in Berber tents under breath-taking starry skies

visit quiet and tranquil regions, dried up lakes and watercourses, fabulous mountains and of course some of the ancient Berber villages.

There are also rock carvings thousands of years old, and the largest necropolis in north Africa with tumuli dating back to prehistoric times.
